“Wesleyans are mobilizing spiritually and physically to provide relief, as well as long-term recovery, for Hurricane Harvey victims,” said General Superintendent Wayne Schmidt. “Thank you for being a people of prayer and action. God will be glorified through both.” The Wesleyan Church, World Hope International and Poured Out began mobilizing last week to provide support to Hurricane Harvey victims impacted by catastrophic flooding in southeastern Texas. Two Mountains Plains District churches immediately began providing relief to Texas communities reported District Superintendent Billy Wilson. The Lone Star Cowboy Church in Mexia, led by mark johnson, focused on serving Rockport. Disaster relief supplies included diapers, personal hygiene supplies, water, nonperishable foods, tire repair kits, flashlights. Crossroads Church in San Antonio, led by pastors Bob and Arlynn Ellis, has been delivering relief supplies to evacuees housed in the city’s shelters. World Hope International, partnering with Poured Out, is organizing to provide recovery services. Financial help is requested to: Purchase emergency supplies and equipment for the recovery phase Establish a base of operations for support Provide blankets, mobile water treatment facilities, mobile wash stations and other emergency supplies “We are working in the recovery phase with local communities and Wesleyan churches to provide relief,” said John Lyon, World Hope president. “We will welcome volunteers when the time is appropriate.”
